|  Brisbane Writers Festival The Brisbane Writers Festival (September 17-21) is more than a Festival for writers; it’s for everyone who reads. This year’s festival will bring the world to Brisbane, and Brisbane to the world.
Some major highlights of this year’s festival include: Mahvish Khan, author of My Guatanamo Diary, and Michael Hastings, author of I Lost My Love in Baghdad.
Other special guests include: Yann Martel, Simon Winchester, Kate Grenville, James Frey, Richard Holmes, Lloyd Jones, Lawrence Hill, Chris Cleave, Graeme Blundell, Anita Heiss, Norman Doidge, John Marsden, Mark Seymour, Virginia Duigan, Michael Robotham, Sun Shuyun, Peter Thompson, Don Watson, Matthew Condon, Clive Hamilton, Henry Reynolds, Joan London, Julian Burnside, Nam Le and many others.
The festival will also be running comprehensive workshops and masterclasses given by Margo Lanagan, Steven Galloway, Chris Abani amongst others.
In sessions that halo the festival week, there will be events with legendary stage and film director, Jim Sharman, Tim Flannery, Peter Costello and David Marr.
